💑 Couples & Honeymoon

Singapore for Couples

Glittering skyline cocktails, candlelit Peranakan dinners, sunset cable car rides over the harbour, and some of the most beautiful urban scenery in the world. Singapore is surprisingly romantic.

🌅 Rooftop Sunsets 🍽️ Romantic Dinners 🚡 Cable Car Rides 💆 Spa Day
Romantic Singapore: The best hotel for couples is the Fullerton Hotel (colonial waterfront, S$450–700/night) or the Capella Singapore (Sentosa, colonial colonial mansion, S$800–1,400). Budget couples: Hotel G or Naumi Hotel have excellent value in the city. The Fullerton Bay Hotel's Lantern Bar is the top rooftop for couples.

Day 1: Arrive & Marina Bay Evening

Afternoon

Check In + Rest

Check into your hotel. If you've chosen MBS, upgrade to a city-view room for the skyline (worth every dollar for honeymooners). If you're on a budget, the Fullerton Hotel's river view rooms are beautiful. Freshen up and dress for the evening.

6:00pm

Cocktails: Lantern Bar at Fullerton Bay

The rooftop Lantern Bar on the Fullerton Bay Hotel (a different hotel from the Fullerton) overlooks the Singapore River and the whole Marina Bay skyline. The best cocktail view in Singapore. Cocktails S$28–32 each. Smart casual dress. Reserve a table online for sunset.

8:00pm

Dinner: Odette (Three Michelin Stars)

If you're celebrating something special: Odette at the National Gallery is Singapore's best restaurant, three Michelin stars, French-Asian cuisine, stunning gallery setting. 8-course tasting menu from S$380/person. Book 4–6 weeks in advance. Alternatively, Artemis Grill on the rooftop of 138 Market Street has excellent food and a beautiful roof terrace.

10:00pm

Night Walk: Helix Bridge + Esplanade

Singapore at night from the Helix Bridge, the illuminated MBS towers, the Esplanade "Durian" domes, is genuinely romantic. Walk the waterfront, find a bench by the river. No agenda. The light on the water is beautiful.

Day 2: Gardens, Culture & Sunset Views

9:00am

Botanic Gardens Morning Walk

The Singapore Botanic Gardens are beautiful at 9am, misty, cool, birdsong. Walk through the rain trees and the Ginger Garden. The National Orchid Garden (S$15 each) has a dedicated VIP Orchid section where Singapore named orchids after visiting dignitaries, Jackie Kennedy, Princess Diana, Queen Elizabeth II. The orchids are extraordinary.

11:30am

Brunch: Dempsey Hill

Post-Botanic brunch at PS Café (leafy colonial bungalow setting, excellent eggs and coffee, S$35–60/couple) or Candlenut (Michelin-starred Peranakan, book ahead). Dempsey Hill in the mid-morning is unhurried and beautiful, old colonial army barracks in the jungle.

2:00pm

Cloud Forest: Couples Photos

The mist-filled Cloud Forest is eerily beautiful and photogenic. The walkways near the waterfall are perfect for couple photos. Later afternoon light through the greenhouse panels is soft and golden. S$53 combo with Flower Dome.

5:00pm

MBS SkyPark Sunset

The 57th floor observation deck (S$32) at golden hour has the best view in Singapore, the CBD skyline, the strait, and on clear days the Indonesian islands on the horizon. Book the last afternoon slot. If you're staying at MBS, the infinity pool at sunset (for hotel guests) is one of the world's most photographed views.

7:30pm

Dinner: Maison Boulud or Waku Ghin

Waku Ghin inside MBS (Tetsuya Wakuda, 2 Michelin stars) is arguably Singapore's most romantic restaurant, 10-course counter dining with live Japanese-European cooking. S$450/person. Or Maison Boulud in the same building for excellent French food at S$120–150/person.

Day 3: Sentosa Romance: Cable Car + Beach + Spa

10:00am

Singapore Cable Car from Mount Faber

Take the cable car from Mount Faber to Sentosa, not the reverse, which is more common. The Faber Peak cable car (S$35 round trip) gives the best views: looking back at the city and down at the container port is spectacular. The glass-bottomed cabin is available at a premium.

12:00pm

Tanjong Beach Club: Lunch by the Pool

Tanjong Beach Club is Sentosa's most upscale beach club, daybeds (S$50–80 deposit, redeemable on food/drinks), pool, bar, excellent food. Order the crab linguine or prawn tacos (S$28–42). This is the Singapore that Instagram is made of.

3:00pm

Spa at Capella or Spa Botanica

Spa Botanica at The Sentosa Resort has one of the best spa experiences in Singapore, floating jacuzzi in a botanical garden, bio-herbal steam room, relaxation pavilions. Treatments from S$160–280 per person. Book a couples treatment room. Capella Singapore's The Auriga spa is even more luxurious (S$200–350).

7:30pm

Sunset Dinner at Coastes or Ola Beach Club

Beachfront dinner on Siloso or Palawan Beach. Coastes has a romantic candlelit terrace literally on the sand. Mediterranean and Asian fusion. S$80–120/couple. Or a Singapore Sling on the beach (the Raffles Bar doesn't have the monopoly, many beach bars do excellent versions).

9:00pm

Clarke Quay Nightcap

Return to the city by Grab. Nightcap at CÉ LA VI (rooftop atop MBS, S$25–35 cocktails) or 1-Altitude (Level 63, Raffles Place, claims to be Singapore's highest rooftop bar). The Singapore skyline at midnight is unforgettable.

Day 4: Heritage & Peranakan Culture

10:00am

Peranakan Museum

The Asian Civilisations Museum (S$20) has an excellent Peranakan gallery, the culture of the Straits Chinese (Baba-Nyonya) is one of Singapore's most unique and beautiful. Intricately beaded shoes, elaborate wedding rituals, porcelain collections. A fascinating window into Singapore's layered heritage.

1:00pm

Lunch at True Blue Cuisine (Peranakan)

Near the Peranakan Museum, True Blue Cuisine is the most authentic Peranakan restaurant experience. The space itself is a museum of Peranakan artefacts. Try buah keluak (black Indonesian nut curry, unlike anything you've tasted), laksa, kueh pie tee, and the pandan chiffon cake for dessert. Book a table. S$50–80/couple.

3:00pm

Emerald Hill Road: Peranakan Shophouses

Walk up Emerald Hill Road from Orchard Road, a beautifully preserved street of Peranakan terraced houses dating from the 1900s. The tiled facades, coloured shutters, and ornamental details are stunning. A favourite spot for architectural photographers and fashion shoots. Free, open street.

5:30pm

Raffles Hotel: Singapore Sling at the Long Bar

No Singapore honeymoon is complete without a Singapore Sling at the Raffles Long Bar, the cocktail was invented here in 1915. S$40 each (yes, expensive). The peanuts are free, and you throw the shells on the floor (tradition). The renovated Raffles (reopened 2019) is magnificent. Allow 1 hour to walk through the arcade, gallery, and courtyard.

8:00pm

Dinner: JAAN by Kirk Westaway (Michelin Star)

On the 70th floor of Swissôtel The Stamford, panoramic views + British-inspired cuisine with local ingredients. One Michelin star. 6-course menu from S$225/person. Or Pollen inside Gardens by the Bay Flower Dome, glass house dining surrounded by flowers, very romantic. S$150–200/person.
